There Are 63 Different Offenses That Can Cause Points To Go on Your License
Video Transcribed: What’s more points on your Driver’s License in Oklahoma, improper passing, or drag racing? I’m Tulsa Traffic Ticket Attorney, James Wirth and we’re talking about the DPS point system and what has more points?
There are 63 different items for traffic offenses that can arise to points on your Driver’s License, that ultimately get reported to insurance companies when they make the request, which can increase insurance costs for up to five years going forward. Well, which one has more points; improper passing, or drag racing?
All right, well interestingly enough, improper passing can have more points. What it lists on the DPS’s list is improper passing, failure to slow or move over as required, and that is three points on your Driver’s License. Whereas drag racing would fall under contest racing, which is only two points on your Driver’s License.
However, there is another improper passing that’s on the list. It does not have the parenthetical, it says failure to slow or move over as required, it just says improper passing, and that’s only one point on your license.
All right, so if you’ve got questions about the DPS point system, how it applies to you, and how to try to avoid points, or earn points off, you may want to talk to an attorney about your specific circumstances.
